A piece of the glacier broke off and sliding down the valley at a speed of 300 km/h dragged with it everything it encountered along its path, leaving behind 11 victims, 8 injured and a huge gash. The work is a dedication to those who lost their lives in the Marmolada tragedy on that July 3, 2022, and to all those who worked to help and recover survivors and non-survivors. The documentary blends interviews, unpublished archive material and footage to date into a single narrative language capable of restoring man's helplessness in the face of the force of nature, emotionally engaging the viewer and turning the spotlight on the men and women who worked tirelessly in those days. Interviews with: authorities, rescuers, mountain guides, eyewitnesses and survivors will take us from hour to hour through the unfolding of events and the setting in motion of the great "rescue machine" highlighting the strong human impact it had on those who were there, perhaps with the knowledge that they were looking among the missing for a friend or colleague. A story that leads us to more reflections on how climate change is rapidly transforming the territory and how consequently the approach to the mountains themselves must change.
