SNOW IN SPRING: THE STORY OF MY EXPERIENCE IN ARABBA

I have happily chosen Arabba for my mountain holiday for years. This location is my personal paradise, a place where the Dolomites (part of the UNESCO World Heritage) embrace the Sella Mountain Group and the Fodom Valley, where the renowned centre of Arabba is situated.
I am very tied to these places, not only by personal choice, but also insofar as it has been my parents’ favourite place for their mountain holidays, during which I had my first experience with the snow, snow shoes, snowboarding and some well-deserved rest in the most intimate and characteristic alpine huts (my favourites being the Rifugio Luigi Gorza, Bec de Roces, Plan Boé, Burz, Ütia La Tambra and Rifugio Pralongià where I love finding cutting boards full of sliced cured meats and cheeses, perfumed candles, and the soft and tasty Schlutzkrapfen… delicious!).

Family and friends experience
This is why Arabba has become my family’s favourite place, where we love to get away in April with friends for a few days of rest to recuperate our energy and relax in the Dolomiti Superski ski area. Every year we meet up to share memories and new experiences, participate in events (the treasure hunt is highly recommended to feel like a kid again!), far from the frenetic fuss of the high season.
Last year during the first week of April I was happily surprised by the slopes, organised in impeccable fashion as usual, and how they inspired my children (the smallest 4, and the oldest 7) to start their first ski lessons. They were super enthusiastic, and it goes without saying that it was a unique experience (you can find some photos on Instagram, search the hashtag #arabba or find other photos on their facebook pages).

The detailed organisation was just as appreciated which ensured that us “adults” were also involved and taken care of! Last year, some Londoners friends (along with a couple from Hampshire with them) decided to join us, even though they were regular lovers of the classic White Week in January. We have to admit: they complimented us for choosing the springtime. In fact, after a day of ski in Arabba and an afternoon in the hotel’s wellness area, it was great to have longer days to take advantage of après-ski, exceptional excursions in the woods, and shopping, and still have some sunlight left to spend some time in Arabba and the surrounding areas, to then enjoy an evening under the stars (a truly priceless experience!).
Taking all this into consideration, I wanted to take the opportunity to share my thoughts about this place (I hope I didn’t bore you!), and hope to have transmitted the positive energy and some of my most beautiful memories of holidays in Arabba. We will be coming back in April, ready to make new memories to bring home as well as discover more loveable surprises!
