The small village of Pieve di Livinallongo del Col di Lana, known in the local language by the Ladin name Fodóm (Buchenstein), is a large municipality made up of countless hamlets, most of which are still inhabited. The main towns are Pieve - the municipal seat - and Arabba, a famous summer and winter tourist resort.
Situated in the upper Val Cordevole, between the Dolomite passes of Pordoi, Campolongo and Falzarego, the municipality lies on the border between the provinces of Belluno and Trento and Bolzano.
Located on the steep slopes of the Col di Lana, a mountain historically known for having been the scene of fierce battles between Italian and Austrian troops during the First World War, it offers many places to visit: the Andraz Castle, an ancient manor house dating back to the year 1000, the Museum of History, Customs and Traditions of the Ladin people, as well as the memorial dedicated to Caterina Lanz, a heroine who was able to face Napoleon's troops.
